We woke up to clear blue skies, the perfect weather for the Top of Europe! First stop, Grindelwald.
We did some shopping in Grindelwald before catching our train to Kleine Scheidegg. The train rides were just as amazing as actually being in each of the little towns. The views were incredible and half the time I couldn't believe that the train was able to make it up such steep inclines. We were those people that everyone hated because we let all the cold air in when we would put the windows down to take pictures. It was so worth it though! Kleine Scheidegg was basically just a ski town. We had thought about skiing while in Switzerland but we are just too spoiled in Utah, the snow looked awful in comparison.
Our final destination was Jungfraujoch, The Top of Europe. It is 3,471 meters (11,388 feet) above sea level. The train ride is about an hour long and it literally takes you straight through the mountain. It was amazing! We stopped at two look-outs along the way and you walked through a tunnel to a glass window that showed the most incredible views. The first look-out was Eigerwand.
Our final stop before arriving at the top was Eismeer. I have never seen such incredible glaciers in my life!
We finally made it! The views were breathtaking! I'm pretty sure we took a thousand pictures... We walked out onto a balcony that literally sat on the cliffs. You could look down and see hundreds of feet beneath you. Tristan may or may not be scared of heights and had a really hard time with it :) I love heights and had a lot of fun freaking him out. The only thing we hated were the cables everywhere! Luckily our next stop didn't have that problem.

Now, story-time. So, when we decided we were going to go to Jungfrau, we were told that we HAD to go to the Ice Palace while we were there. As we were walking around the tunnels of Jungfrau, the entrance to the Ice Palace was blocked off! NO!! We were so upset! That was half the reason we came all this way. So, we ducked under the ropes and pushed our way through the rotating door. We thought we were so sneaky :) We slid down the longest ice hallway of my life before our friends Paul and Ashlee heard people coming! We thought we were caught so we ran as fast as you can on ice back to the door and out. We were bummed because Paul had seen the first ice sculpture and we wished we could have seen more... oh well!
Later that day as we were coming to the end of our day we stumbled upon the back entrance to the Ice Palace. And it was open! I guess they were just fixing up the entrance or something so they had that closed off but the whole thing wasn't closed. And when we thought we heard people coming to get us, that was actually just the people who were in the open portion of the ice palace... Silly us...
We had such an amazing day! On the drive home from Grindelwald to our hotel we saw a castle on the mountain. We somehow had to get up to that castle. We turned back and found a little road that we followed to the top. Off the road we saw a trail so we decided to follow it. It was pitch black and we followed a creepy tiny trail to who knows where... not the castle. Ashlee and I were super freaked out. Finally we decided to turn back and head home. As we continued a drive we found the road that led to the castle! After getting stuck in ice and thinking we were going to slide right off a cliff, we finally made it to the castle. So many fun memories that day!
