On Christmas Eve, our sweet boy turned five months old. We love him!
Diaper Size: two
Clothes Size: 0-3 month, 3 month, and 3-6 month
Nicknames: Stinky and the Brain, Munchkin, Handsome, Baby Kai
Health: So good! He is officially off of his reflux medication and though he still likes to throw up, it is a lot less than before. We are so blessed to have a healthy baby and hope that we can keep it that way as we go through flu season.
Sleep: We are having a hard time getting him into a routine with me being at work and him being dragged wherever dad has to go. He still likes to go to sleep later at night, around 11. He wakes up once or twice a night then is up for the day around 11. We are hoping to move him to an earlier bedtime but it more depends on us being consistent than his ability to adapt...
Diet: Breastmilk. But he is definitely interested in real food. I can't even drink a water bottle in front of him without him grabbing for it. And when we eat meals, he stares at us the entire time.
Likes:
- his octopus on his playmat
- playing with his feet
- screaming
- putting anything and everything in his mouth to be chewed on
- music
- the french lullaby that his dad and papa sing to him, puts him to sleep every time
- when we say, "no, it's not funny!"
- when dad tosses him in the air
Dislikes:
- nana's paisley shirt (sorry nana!)
- being teased with real food
- when he is tired
Milestones: We are laughing all the time over here and it never gets old. I have this crazy desire to record it every single time because it melts me. He is reaching for people when he wants to go see them, hands me his things, and loves to explore faces with his hands. He is rolling front to back & back to front, tummy time is pretty much a joke these days because the second I set him on his tummy he gives me a cheesy grin before rolling to his back. He recognizes his name now and also responds to "hi handsome". We are working on the sitting thing and he does well some days, other days gravity gets him and he folds in half or he topples over. He is so smart and understands so much these days which is so fun. We are loving this stage!
Things I don't want to forget:
- the way he smiles with his binky in his mouth.
- at family pictures, Kacee jumped up on me which got snow everywhere which made him laugh hysterically. this kid has a sense of humor :)
- the fact that he is lopsided, he has a right leg roll but no left leg roll!
- the way he sticks one leg up on my arm while he nurses these days.
- the time his binky was making a squishy noise and Tristan said it was broken. I freaked out and said if it's broken he can't use that one, let me see. and Mckai took it out of his mouth and handed it straight to me.
- he knows the words to the french lullaby. one day, his papa was singing it to him and as McKai started to drift off, his papa changed the words to something along the lines of, McKai is falling asleep. the second he changed the words, McKai opened his eyes and glared at him! we've since learned that we can't change the words or he gets so mad.
- the time his papa teased him with a veggie chip (he has spent a lot of time at his nana and papa's house this month as I've been working... can you tell?) one day when they were waiting for his bottle to warm up, his papa handed him a veggie chip but then took it away. McKai was so mad! he reached up and pushed his papa's face away while screaming at him. for the rest of the night, every time his papa came close he would do the same thing. later, when he was on his papa's lap watching a show, he would still turn around and push his face every few minutes to remind him that he wasn't happy with him.
- how fun it is to see other people love your baby! I love to watch our family and friends interact with him and love him.
- the time we were sitting in a coffee shop with Maddy and a guy walks in and instantly says, "awe, look how cute he is!" then the guy, was embarrassed by his outburst and kept apologizing.
