happy half birthday (yesterday) to our favorite baby boy!
Weight: 14 pounds 11 ounces (6%)
Length: 24.75 inches (1%)
Head Circumference: 16.5 inches (12%)
Diaper Size: two
Clothes Size: his 0-3 month jammies are just starting to get too short, he mostly wears 3 month, 3-6 month and 6 month clothing.
Nicknames: rollie pollie, munchkin, little man, handsome, stinky bum
Health: Great! He did have a cold for a few days but recovered quickly and learned how to fake cough because of it :) He had another eye appointment and they said he looked good. And at his six month appointment today she said he looks perfect!
Sleep: We made it through sleep training, hallelujah! He now goes to bed between 8:30-9:30 pm and sleeps 12 hours straight. Every here and then he will wake up around midnight and if he does, I will feed him again. Every here and then he will wake up during the middle of the night but he only cries for a minute or so before falling back asleep. As for naps... he takes his first nap around 11 am, another around 2 or 3 pm, and his last nap around 6 pm.
Diet: breastmilk and rice cereal.
Likes:
- playing with his binky
- his octopus bath toy
- empty water bottles
- fake coughing
- blowing raspberries
- talking, talking and more talking
- bathtime (still his absolute favorite)
- his Kacee girl
Dislikes: I honestly can't think of anything this month. He's super happy and easy-going and really only cries if he is tired or hungry.
Milestones: He is constantly rolling from back to tummy and tummy to back (hence adopting the nickname rollie pollie again) and will roll to get to whatever toys he wants. He has started trying to crawl. It started one night with him face planted in our bed moving his legs as though he were trying to crawl but without his arms and now will get up on all fours and try to crawl before he ends up rolling. He didn't have much interest in sitting (he would throw himself backwards after just 30 seconds or so) but yesterday at sunday dinner he decided he could do it and was sitting on his own perfectly. His vocabulary consists of "ah-goo", "ha-ha", and "da". He learned how to splash in the bathtub and blow bubbles in the water, as well as blow raspberries and fake cough. This month he has started to reach for Kacee whenever she is close by. I feel like he learns something new every single day and it is so fun to watch!
Things I don't want to forget:
- the way he chews on his thumb rather than sucking on it.
- the way he touches our faces when he is tired and wants to go to sleep.
- in the bathtub, when his toys float away he kicks like crazy until he can grab them again! we call it, "swim, swim, swim!"
- the way he pants.
- one night when I got home from a rough day at work I got in the bathtub as I often do at night. about halfway through my bath, Tristan and McKai got home so of course they wanted to join me. the second Tristan handed McKai to me he just started laughing! it turned my whole day around.
- when he gets really excited and his moves his whole body like crazy. there were moments when he was still in the womb that I'm pretty sure he did this same thing.
the struggle to take good pictures has begun!
he would not give me a smile today because he just wanted to keep screaming and he is on the move. but oh how we love you sweet boy!
