This trip was planned specifically to attend our cousin Lindsay's baby shower, but it was also a good excuse to introduce our little guy to his extended family as well as get away one last time before this momma goes back to work. It was a little too short but so much fun!
McKai was a little champ. He was an angel the entire 10 hour drive. There was maybe one hour when we were almost there but stuck in lots of traffic that he cried and that was it. We brought my sister-in-law Ashley and she was such a big help! We're bringing her on all our trips from now on ;)
McKai got to meet his Tata Lindsay and Tanya as well as his cousins Nico and Leo. We told Nico that McKai's middle name is Nicolas so Nico decided that since they have the same name, he would be "Ni" and McKai would be "co". It was adorable! We got to spend a hot afternoon on the beach, ending with a perfect sunset. McKai wasn't super convinced about the cold water, not that I blame him. He didn't mind the sand though. I can't wait until we can bring him back to the beach when he's old enough to sit and play in the sand!
On Saturday we drove to Palm Springs so that McKai could meet his great Tata Maryse as well as Tonton Andrew and Ty. They loved him! I know we're all biased but Tata Maryse just kept saying how his toes, his nose, his ears, etc... were all perfect. And McKai loved them. He was all smiles and laughs. We spent an evening walking around downtown and then a morning laying out and playing in the pool. McKai woke me up at 7, after I fed him we went to the backyard. It was seriously a dream. The sun coming up silhouetting the palm trees and mountains. I could live in a place like that. McKai got his first experience in the pool. He actually liked it even though the water wasn't very warm. And a naked baby in the pool... I'm all heart eyes over here! He took a nap on the lounge chair with Tonton Andrew while Tristan and I laid out in the pool. It was seriously the perfect morning.
Sunday was the baby shower. Our cousin Tanya (Lindsay's older sister) put it together and she did an amazing job! Seriously, look at these details.
We are just so happy for Lindsay and David. It's so fun that we get to experience pregnancy and mommy life together. We can't wait to meet to meet their little girl! Looks like we'll have to plan another trip to California after she makes her debut. :) Little miss Ava Maria, you are already so loved and spoiled! And Lindsay, you're such a gorgeous momma-to-be!
We were not ready to leave on Monday. I would have tried to convince Tristan that we had to stay another day or two if he wasn't leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday. So we had breakfast with the family one last time before making the 10 hour trip home. McKai was a little angel on the way home as well. He fussed and cried for maybe 30 minutes total. Thanks for being such a good baby, we'll be sure to take you on many more adventures :)
