life lately :: may

^ kauai: day 1 ^
our flights landed in Hawaii late Saturday night so Sunday was our first full day. we went to church, ate the most delicious breakfast at Ono's Family Restaurant, and then Mckai slept while everyone else spent the day at the beach. that night we celebrated Andrew and Ashley's birthday!

^ kauai: day 2 ^
visiting the Spouting Horn, my first taste of an acai bowl (oh my goodness, so good!), and snorkeling at Poipu Beach.

^ kauai: day 3, part 1 ^
kayaking and hiking to Secret Falls!

^ kauai: day 3, part 2 ^
Mckai's first time going into the ocean and playing in the waves (it's all fun and games until the waves get too big...), spike ball on the beach, and hanging out in the pool. Followed by amazing pizza for dinner with the best nutella calzone for dessert. I'm drooling just thinking about it...

^ kauai: day 4, part 1 ^
playing in the sand and boogie boarding at Haena Beach, exploring Maniholo Dry Cave, then a little bit of shopping (mostly I just needed a rash guard because my shoulders were SO burnt!)

^ kauai: day 4, part 2 ^
Queen's Bath, my very favorite part of the trip! So beautiful!

^ kauai: day 5, part 1 ^
Napali Coast boat tour was absolutely breathtaking. this was definitely Mckai's favorite part of the trip! he loved watching the dolphins and kept pointing while saying, "there he is!" we saw dolphins, whales, and turtles and we also got to snorkel for a bit!

^ the rest of day 5 was spent in the kiddie pool! Mckai loved having all his aunts and uncles in there playing with him. loved the slide but mostly just if we went with him. and learned how to hold his breath if his face went under the water. ^

^ kauai: day 6 ^
hiking the Napali Coast to Hanakapi'ai Beach and Falls. our original plan was to pack Mckai with us in the ergo but last minute my mom decided to stay behind so she watched our little guy. I'm so grateful because it was exhausting just carrying myself. but totally worth it!

^ kauai: day 7 ^
Tristan's flight left that morning but Mckai and I were headed to Utah rather than California so we stayed with my family. we visited Wailua Falls and then spent one more afternoon on the beach before catching a red eye flight home. overall, Mckai was a champ. but I do have to say that he was falling asleep by the time we were walking onto the plane but was so intrigued he didn't end up going to sleep until about an hour or so into the flight... which means he was overly tired and screamed for 30 minutes straight before finally passing out. that's definitely the worst he has been (noise wise) on a flight but once he was asleep he pretty much slept until we got home so no complaints here!

^ we spent our time in Utah eating at kneaders for breakfast more times than I'm willing to admit, sharing a bed (because the time change affected Mckai poorly and it was the only way we both got sleep!), working 6 shifts while Mckai hung out with Miranda, 2 work meetings, going to Liberty Park with Maddy and Jude, and spending as much time as possible with family (including one afternoon spent at the Curiosity Museum). ^

^ we flew back to California with Miranda! Mckai sure missed his doggies! ^

^ Sunday in Santa Cruz ^
we walked along the trail and played in the sand at Natural Bridges State Park. it was gorgeous!

^ Sunday in Santa Cruz ^
we walked the boardwalk, did the swings (my favorite!) and put the kids on a little car ride. Mckai loved it at first, until he looked back and saw Millie crying hysterically... then he started crying hysterically, harder than I've ever seen him cry! it was so funny it was hard not to laugh. we ended the day meeting Miranda and her mom at Penny's Ice Creamery. so good!

^ more pool days than I can count! ^

^ exploring Oakland Zoo with Miranda, Kenzie, and Millie ^

^ visiting with Tata Maryse ^
she showed us a property that she has been helping design and then we went to lunch at the cutest restaurant in High Hand Nursery!

^ a Sunday at Six Flags while Miranda babysat Mckai! ^

^ we went swimming with Miranda for Memorial Day ^

What a crazy, busy and fun month it was! Hooray for it officially being summer!
