life lately :: july

July always seems to be our busiest month of the year! By the end of it, I was taking naps every single day with Mckai to catch up on the sleep I didn't get the rest of the month! But we wouldn't have it any other way :)

^ cousin fun at the alpine splash pad! we were so glad that Mckai's Papa and Ashley joined us too :) ^

^ grabbing hawaiian ice with Shay! we wish California had shaved ice places! ^

^ I got to work on the 4th of July again this year so Mckai spent his day with Miranda! ^

^ after work we got to have a 4th of July BBQ, play in the kiddie pool, and watch fireworks! Mckai was a little nervous of the fireworks at first (he'd cover his eyes, then peek like in the bottom right picture) but ended up enjoying them by the end! It was a really great night! ^

^ boating at Deer Creek the day after the 4th! I thought for sure Mckai would love wake surfing with Uncle Nate... not so much :) He definitely loved driving the boat though and hanging out with his cute cousins! ^

^ more pictures from boating just because :) it was so fun skiing on glass that morning even if it was freezing! I'm obsessed with the green mountain at Deer Creek during the summer, so pretty! Mckai loved watching people ski, tubing, and jumping off the back deck into the water over and over again! it was seriously the best day! ^

^ shopping at City Creek with mom & Shay + shopping at University Place because it was Shay's last day working at Bohme (my wallet is going to love the fact that I don't have to visit her at work anymore... me not so much...)

^ on our way home from the airport we got to stop in Danville to see Nanny Miranda's hometown. it was the cutest little town and her mom supplied Mckai with a giant flower to give to me... heart on the floor in a giant puddle because I love my baby boy so much! ^

^ one sunday, the guys had this really fun idea to go cliff jumping in the river! we were all for it! but we were not prepared for the half mile hike to get there. it was hot and we were in flip flops with way too much stuff (kids, why do they need so much stuff!?) but it was still a blast. freezing cold water and all :) ^

^ a father/son date to get Mckai's hair cut one morning before Tristan had to head to work. ^

^ mom & shay came to visit us! our favorite week of the summer :) Mckai was in heaven holding grandma's hand everywhere he went and making Aunt Shay laugh. ^

^ Tristan's family came to visit, seriously how are we blessed with the best families in the world?? we loved having them with us! Mckai loved being the center of attention and I kind of loved having so much help! anyone else want to visit? we are really fun, I promise ;) ^

^ it's the happiest day when Tristan surprises us by coming home from work a couple hours early so we can go swimming! these are the best summer nights. ^

^ a Saturday night at the California State Fair ^

^ a Sunday night at the pool and then the hot tub once the sun went down. followed by Cold Stone for dessert, yum! ^

^ Mckai's 2nd Birthday! ^

Since we aren't living near any family, I opted against a party this year and instead we just spent the day doing everything for Mckai. Tristan spoiled us and took the day off so he could spend it with us as well. Mckai woke up to a room full of balloons, spent his morning at the splash park, and spent his afternoon at Wacky Tacky (do you see that middle right picture? I was having a heart attack watching him climb on his own but he did so good! he's so big!). That night Miranda, Kiley, Kenzie & Millie joined us for cake. He loved having us sing happy birthday to him and tried unsuccessfully to blow out his own candles :) I'd say eating the chocolate cake was by far his favorite part of the day haha!
